Miss Karen's Newsletter November 25 - 30, 2012

Dear Families,
I hope that you all had a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving break.  I accomplished many of my goals and got to spend time with my family and friends.

Binders
The binder that I gave you at conferences needs to be returned on Friday this week, so that I can put a current newsletter and December's homework.

November's Homework
Please turn in November's homework and the home-school connection on Friday.  Please put it inside the binder.

Reading
For the next three weeks in reading our unit is about transportation.  The letters are T and the short I sound.  The high frequency words are see & go.

Math
We are continuing to write numerals 1-10, counting from 1-50, greater than, less than, and equal between two numbers.  We will be working on patterns, attributes and naming 2D shapes.

Gingerbread Man
For the next four weeks we will be doing activities around the gingerbread man.  We will have "adopt a gingerbread man", this is a tradition at View Acres to raise funds to support a cause.  This year our cause will be the Oregon Guide Dogs.  This is our third year of raising funds to support this wonderful program.  I will send home more information as our Gingerbread men are completed.
We will compare and contrast gingerbread stories, create our own gingerbread man, measure, learn songs and poems.
Mark your calendar for Wednesday December 19 for a brief program and a Winter Celebration.  I will send home more details regarding times for both sessions.
I am asking that each child send in $3.00 to cover the expense of creating gingerbread men, the Winter Celebration and St. Nicholas Day.  Please send in the money by Friday, November 30th.

Snacks
Please send in snack with your child when he/she is the President.  If you cannot provide snack that is okay.  I always have snacks here.  Crackers, fruit/veggies, cheese sticks, cereal, nuts are all good choices.  Please try to avoid sugary snacks.  The AM class has 28 and the PM class has 29.  We need to spend less time during snack time, it takes too long for every child to get out his/her snack out of their backpacks.  Thanks for understanding.

Have a good week,
Miss Karen
