Dear Families,
We had a great first week back together. The kids were eager to see one another and to get working on their school stuff.
Homework
Home-School Connection is coming home today. Please keep calendars and reading logs in a safe place at home. I will be collecting purple homework folders on Thursdays or Fridays, (the last day of the school week), so that I can fill them earlier on Mondays.
Reading
For the next three weeks we will learn the words have & to. The letters n & c. Help your child make words with the following word families: -an, -ap, -at, -ip, -in. This week when reading to your child ask them to summarize the story and to tell you the sequence of events.
Math
We will be working on adding numbers together, counting, writing numbers, and problem solving. The Common Core Standard for adding and subtracting is to be able to add and subtract up to ten and be fluent up to five.
Social Studies
This week we will learn about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
PTO Movie Night
Is on Friday, January 17 and I will be the VIP. The movie starts at 7:00 and it is Despicable Me, 2.
REMINDERS
NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 20 or Monday, January 27.
