Dear Families,
Our one hundredth day is finally here! We did quite a few activities today to celebrate our 100th day together. It amazes me every year how much their brains absorb, and they grow socially and emotionally. It is truly an amazing time in a child's life.
Auction
It was so great to see so many of you at the auction. It was really fun! I hope that our amazing PTO organizes this next year. Our basket was outstanding! Thanks to all of you that contributed to our Movie Night Themed basket. I have not heard how much the auction brought in, but I will keep you posted.

Books
On Friday our PTO gave each student a book for them to keep. This was in honor of Read Across America.
Firefighters
Last week we had Firefighter Kyle and Firefighter Ryan come and talk to us about fire safety. They asked the kids to talk their families about a meeting place. The meeting place is a designated place that your family agrees to meet in case of a fire.
Reading
We are starting Unit 7 in reading. The theme is Weather. It is always a fun topic for kids. The letters are E,B,L and the words are this, do and what. I will be assessing your child on Friday, March 14 on the words is, play, you, are, for and letters & sounds for O,F,D, H, R. I will also check to make sure that they are retaining the previous taught letters, sounds and words.
Math
We will be working on adding and subtracting numbers together, counting, writing numbers, and problem solving. We will also be working on Geometric shapes. The Common Core Standard for adding and subtracting is to be able to add and subtract up to ten and be fluent up to five.
Special Events
Today we will celebrate and honor Dr. Seuss. Wednesday, 3/5 we will share our informational Bear Books. The kids did a "Beary Good Job", and next Monday 3/10, we will celebrate our 100th day together. Please help your child find a collection of 100 things. You can even send in items for your child to share or you can make a 100 day poster with a collection of 100 things.
